“More Chaos, No Plan”

LOS ANGELES, CA —  Today, President Donald Trump announced he is removing Kristi Noem from her position as Secretary of Homeland Security.

“Firing one official doesn’t change the reality families are living with every day. The problem isn’t one person, it’s an administration that has chosen fear and chaos over solutions. As your next governor, I’ll stand up to Donald Trump and his ICE thugs and I’ll stand up for California,” said Antonio Villaraigosa.  

Antonio is the first and only candidate in the race for governor to roll out a comprehensive plan to hold federal immigration enforcement accountable. His plan would ban masked immigration agents, require clear identification during enforcement actions, and increase transparency and oversight of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security oversees the federal government’s immigration enforcement apparatus, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Under Kristi Noem, the Department of Homeland Security faced criticism and protests over the department’s handling of Trump’s immigration crackdown, particularly after the shooting deaths of two people by immigration enforcement officers.
