Surrounded by community leaders in South Los Angeles, she emphasized their shared commitment to social and economic justice and how Villaraigosa's experience makes him the best candidate for Governor of California.  

Today, Antonio Villaraigosa, former Speaker of the California Assembly and 41st Mayor of Los Angeles, releases his first television ad in the governor’s race. The 30-second ad, titled “Affordable,” will start airing tonight during the first game of the National Football League season, and will continue airing statewide on television and digital platforms.

Governor Kounalakis out of the race, Antonio Villaraigosa has emerged as the clear fundraising leader raising over $4.2 million in direct contributions for the governor’s race, far surpassing his rivals who had to transfer funds collected from donors who gave to other political offices – not the governor’s race – to pad their fundraising totals.

As candidates for Governor head into CalChamber’s California Business Outlook Forum on Wednesday, Antonio Villaraigosa, former Speaker of the California Assembly and 41st Mayor of Los Angeles, is calling on Sacramento to fund Proposition 36 (2024), which was overwhelmingly passed by voters in November with 68.4% of the vote.
