BIANCO’S “UNPRECEDENTED” BALLOT SEIZURE IS “DANGEROUS ABUSE OF POWER”

Follows national MAGA Republican efforts to disenfranchise lawful voters

LOS ANGELES, CA —  Today, LA Times reports confirmed that Chad Bianco oversaw the seizure of more than half a million ballots in Riverside County as part of what has been described as “a widely criticized and baseless election probe.”

“What we’re seeing from Chad Bianco is a dangerous abuse of power and no different from what we’re seeing from Donald Trump and the extreme Republican efforts to disenfranchise voters nationally,” said Antonio Villaraigosa. “Seizing hundreds of thousands of ballots without credible evidence is an attack on the very foundation of our democracy. If you’re willing to undermine free and fair elections for MAGA stardom, you have no business holding public office.”

Bianco’s bogus investigation is an appeal to the extreme right wing that undermines confidence in our elections. Local officials have already rejected the claims behind it, and there’s no credible evidence of widespread fraud. Bianco’s actions, much like the national MAGA Republican efforts to disenfranchise voters, threaten the integrity of the democratic process. Californians deserve leaders who protect elections, not undermine them.
