USC Reverses Course After Flawed Debate Criteria Draws Scrutiny

Antonio Villaraigosa and Allies Succeed in Public Pressure Campaign for Fair Criteria

LOS ANGELES, CA —  Last night, USC reversed course on its debate criteria following widespread concerns about fairness and transparency.

“USC made the right call, even if it came late and under pressure,” said Antonio Villaraigosa. “The formula they used penalized candidates for entering the race early while rewarding a late entrant with documented ties to USC’s donor network. That approach couldn’t survive public examination.”

“I believe California needs a proven problem solver who will bring down the cost of living, stop ICE, and fight Donald Trump and the MAGA agenda. As California voters make their decision, the debate stages should be open to all the major candidates to present their plans and ideas.”
