VILLARAIGOSA EARNS ENDORSEMENT OF OPERATING ENGINEERS LOCAL 3, THE LARGEST CONSTRUCTION TRADE LOCAL IN THE COUNTRY
Operating Engineers Local 3 is the Latest of Several Major Labor Endorsements for Villaraigosa for Governor
LOS ANGELES – Antonio Villaraigosa, former Speaker of the California Assembly and 41st Mayor of Los Angeles, announced that he has received the endorsement of the Operating Engineers Local 3. It is the largest construction trades local in the United States, with more than 40,000 members across California, Nevada, Utah, and Hawaii.
Dan Reding, Business Manager, Operating Engineers Local 3, said:
“The Operating Engineers Local 3 is proud to endorse Antonio Villaraigosa for Governor. He has always stood side-by-side with building trades unions by supporting the expansion of good jobs and livable salaries for working families. He believes in more infrastructure funding, protecting wages, and expanding apprenticeship training programs. He is the leader that California needs.”
“I'm honored to have the support of the Operating Engineers Local 3 for my campaign for Governor. We share the same goal of making California work for working families and make our state more affordable. I am a proven problem solver who will work every day to take on California's toughest challenges, including making life more affordable for working families. As Governor, I am committed to creating good-paying jobs and lowering the price of gas and the cost of housing,” said Villaraigosa.
This endorsement is Villaraigosa's latest major union endorsement, following statewide endorsements such as the State Building and Construction Trades Council of California, Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), the largest public safety endorsement in the Governor's race, the California State Association of Electrical Workers, the California State Pipe Trades Council, the California-Nevada Conference of Operating Engineers, and the District Council of Iron Workers (DCIW) of California and the Vicinity.
