YAMAHA DEPARTURE HIGHLIGHTS GROWING RISK OF JOBS LEAVING CALIFORNIA
LOS ANGELES, CA — Today there were reports that Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. will relocate its U.S. headquarters from Cypress, California to Kennesaw, Georgia after nearly five decades in the state.
For generations, California has been the engine of innovation and opportunity in America. But when a major employer that has called our state home for nearly 50 years decides to move its headquarters out of California, it raises serious questions about the pressures facing businesses and workers alike. From rising costs to regulatory challenges, too many employers are reconsidering where they invest, grow, and create jobs.
If this trend continues, California risks losing not just headquarters, but good-paying jobs and future economic growth. The state’s strength has always been its ability to combine innovation, talent, and opportunity but maintaining that advantage requires leadership focused on keeping California competitive while protecting workers and communities.
“California’s economy is the most innovative in the world, but we can’t take that success for granted. I’m a proven problem solver who knows how to deliver results - creating jobs, investing in infrastructure, and strengthening our economy. As governor, I’ll focus on lowering costs, supporting employers and workers, and making sure California continues to lead in opportunity and innovation,” Antonio Villaraigosa.
