VILLARAIGOSA RELEASES FIRST TV AD IN GOVERNOR’S CAMPAIGN DURING NFL’S FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON
Villaraigosa’s first ad focuses on making California more affordable: tackling gas prices and groceries, vetoing tax increases, and calling out his opponents for supporting policy that will make California even more expensive
LOS ANGELES — Today, Antonio Villaraigosa, former Speaker of the California Assembly and 41st Mayor of Los Angeles, releases his first television ad in the governor’s race. The 30-second ad, titled “Affordable,” will start airing tonight during the first game of the National Football League season, and will continue airing statewide on television and digital platforms.
“Affordable” focuses on Villaraigosa’s commitment to bringing down costs for California families by holding the line on property taxes, building affordable housing, cracking down on price-gougers, and tackling high gas prices. Villaraigosa also calls out his opponents, Katie Porter and Xavier Becerra, for supporting policy that would increase taxes and costs for working families.
Script:
Villaraigosa: “California's too expensive. As governor, I'm gonna do something about it. I'll hold the line on property taxes. I'll break ground on affordable housing. I'll crack down on price gougers. And I'll rip up any pledge that could raise gas prices and veto any billion-dollar tax hike on working families like the one they'll sign. I'm Antonio Villaraigosa. I don't run from tough problems. I solve them. That's exactly what I'll do as governor.”
