ANTONIO CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE MORATORIUM ON COSTLY REGULATIONS, VOWS TO REFORM CARB AS GO
LOS ANGELES, CA — As Californians continue to face the highest gas prices in the country, Antonio Villaraigosa called for an immediate moratorium on costly regulations that drive up energy prices and make life more expensive for working families across the state.
“Today, I am calling for an immediate moratorium on costly regulations overburdening California refineries that produce the cleanest gas in the nation and a moratorium on the costly regulations that have made the price of gas a crippling burden on working families. These failed policies are not only hurting tens of millions of Californians, they are terrible for the environment because they have forced California to depend on imported foreign oil from the Middle East. As Governor, I will reform and overhaul CARB because we can no longer allow bureaucrats who live in a bubble – with no accountability for the harm they are causing our economy and our people – to have so much power over the lives of every Californian.”
-Antonio Villaraigosa
Reforming the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and increasing transparency and accountability in the state’s regulatory process will be a priority for Antonio’s administration, with a focus on lowering costs for Californians while continuing to advance environmental goals. The proposal is part of Antonio’s broader effort to address California’s affordability crisis as he continues meeting with communities across the state to hear directly from residents facing rising costs.
