VILLARAIGOSA EARNS ENDORSEMENT FROM CA-NV CONFERENCE OF OPERATING ENGINEERS

Villaraigosa is “proven problem solver 100% committed to doing the job of Governor”

LOS ANGELES – Antonio Villaraigosa, Former Speaker of the California Assembly and 41st Mayor of Los Angeles, has received the first statewide union endorsement of the election cycle in the Governor’s race from the  California-Nevada Conference of Operating Engineers, which includes International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Locals 12, 39 and 501.

“From his work as Speaker of the California State Assembly, as Mayor who led the state’s biggest city out of the Great Recession, and as the state’s Infrastructure Advisor creating the blueprint to expedite unprecedented infrastructure funding, our research clearly shows that Antonio Villaraigosa is the proven problem solver working families need as California’s next Governor,” said Matt Cremins, Director of the California-Nevada Conference of Operating Engineers

“Antonio Villaraigosa is a leader who listens, knows how to make tough decisions, and most importantly—gets results,” said David K. Sikorski, IUOE Local 12 Business Manager and International Vice-President. “We have big problems to fix in California. Working families need a proven problem solver who is 100% committed to doing the job of Governor starting on Day One, and that’s why we’re backing Antonio Villaraigosa.”

“I am humbled to earn the first major union endorsement in this election cycle and honored to stand with the hardworking men and women of the Operating Engineers who want a problem solver to lead our state,” Villaraigosa said. “To make California affordable again, California needs to build again. As Governor, I will increase housing supply, renewable energy capacity, and water storage, expand vocational education and apprenticeship programs, and streamline construction projects creating good-paying union jobs. We can only move California forward by solving the tough problems and lifting people up, not leaving working families behind.”
