VILLARAIGOSA GETS STATEWIDE LABOR ENDORSEMENT FROM CA STATE PIPE TRADES COUNCIL
Fourth Major Statewide Labor Endorsement for Villaraigosa for Governor
LOS ANGELES — Antonio Villaraigosa, former Speaker of the California Assembly and 41st Mayor of Los Angeles, announces he has received another major, statewide labor endorsement from the California State Pipe Trades Council, representing over 40,000 members across the state.
"We are proud to endorse Antonio Villaraigosa for Governor. He knows that California faces tough problems and is committed to making California affordable again for all families across the state by lowering gas prices, housing, and utility costs,” said Mike Hartley, Executive Director of the California State Pipe Trades Council. “Throughout his two terms as Mayor of Los Angeles and as Speaker of the Assembly, he has demonstrated that he is a proven problem solver who can deliver results. He understands the needs of working families and has always stood with labor throughout his career. He is the governor we need to lead this state."
"I am honored and humbled to have earned the California State Pipe Trade Council's endorsement," said Antonio Villaraigosa. "Pipefitters, welders, and plumbers are hard-working men and women who deserve an economy that works for all families. As governor, I will focus on creating more housing, expanding vocational education and apprenticeship programs, and creating good-paying union jobs."
This endorsement is Villaraigosa's fourth statewide union endorsement, including the District Council of Iron Workers (DCIW) of California and the Vicinity, the California-Nevada Conference of Operating Engineers, and the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), the largest public safety endorsement in the governor's race.
